This 1892 Frank Lloyd Wright House Wants Just $775K | Chappaqua Homes
Over in the Chicago suburbs, an early design by "America's architect" Frank Lloyd Wright asks $775K, which may seem cheap for a 2,661-square-foot four bedroom by a master—particularly a house that, as Curbed Chicago writes, "utterly oozes Wright's Prairie charm"—though if one considers the several other FLW spreads to have hit the market in the last year or so, it's apparent that a Wright design selling for less than $1M is not all too unlikely. (Of course, that's not to discount the flashier and more iconic-looking Wright designs on the market for many millions, of which there are plenty.) Anyway, the Robert P. Parker House in Oak Park, Ill., was built in 1892 and is known to be one of Wright's "bootleg" properties—that is, one that Wright designed on the sly while working at architecture firm Adler and Sullivan early in his career. It initially listed last month for $825K, but considering the current owners bought it in 1996 for what the property history indicates to be $220K, it seems a price slash is not going to dissolve the homeowners' pocket profits any time soon.
