Noma Founder to Open Grand Central Food Hall | Mount Kisco Real Estate

Image
[Vanderbilt Hall when it hosted a Nespresso pop-up Facebook ] It's not officially a done deal yet, but Claus Meyer , one of the founders of Copenhagen's genre-defining restaurant Noma , wants to open a Scandinavian food hall in Grand Central Terminal that would have a balcony cafe , a grab-and-go coffee parlor, and a fancy "100-seat Nordic brasserie." This multifaceted Scandinavian dining complex would take over the landmarked Vanderbilt Hall space inside the station, which is where the annual holiday markets take place. Meyer and his team were the highest bidders of the 15 groups that sent in proposals for the space, and right now they're the frontrunners. Jeff Rosen, the head of real estate for the MTA, tells Flo Fab: "It just so happened that the highest rent proposal was also of the highest quality ." read more.... http://ny.eater.com/archives/2014/06/noma_founder_to_open_grand_central_terminal_food_hall.php

New reports suggest slow down in housing market recovery | Mount Kisco Real Estate

ALISON STEWART: For a few years now, we’ve been hearing a great deal about the nation’s housing recovery. But recent reports suggest that trend might be slowing. If it is, it could have a significant impact on the nation’s overall economic health. For more about this, we’re joined now by Michelle Conlin, she’s a senior correspondent with Reuters. And Michelle, the reports everybody’s sort of taking a look at, they say that existing home sales are at their lowest in about 18 months of July 2012 and new home sales are down by about 14 percent as compared with this time last year. So what’s happening in the past 12 to 18 months.   MICHELLE CONLIN: Well, one thing that’s happening, is that in order to have a health housing market you have to have a healthy first-time buyers group. I mean, first time buyers are the engine of the housing market and they have virtually been locked out of this market by various things. I mean one thing that they’ve been locked out by is pretty tight...

"This was where the Smoke Tree crowd would go to get away from everyone," the listing agent for the property tells the ...

Time on Market Falls to 8.6 Weeks | Mount Kisco Real Estate

Houses are selling faster in America than they have in three and a half years, the height of the homebuyer tax credit, as the recovery continues to roar through the summer months despite predictions the torrid pace of sales will slow. New HousingPulse data show that three key barometers of the health of the housing market – time on market, number of sales offers, and the sales-to-list price ratio – all remained very strong for non-distressed properties in July. Non-distressed properties are the largest and fastest segment of this year’s housing market, according to the latest Campbell/Inside Mortgage Finance HousingPulse Tracking Survey results. In the important time on market measurement, the average nationwide fell to a three-and-a-half year low of 8.6 weeks (based on a three month moving average) for non-distressed properties, HousingPulse found. That was not only way down from the 12.1 weeks seen in December but also down from 9.2 weeks in May. On a regional basis, the avera...

Mount Kisco Diner Begins Expansion | Mount Kisco Real Estate

The Mount Kisco Coach Diner, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s favorite hangout, has begun construction on its expansion. The diner is adding 1,250 square feet and 13 new parking spaces, along with providing a terrace for outdoor seating. The project was approved by the planning board earlier this year after the Mount Kisco Village Board approved a zoning change in 2010. Recently, the Paul Power’s structure, which exists south of the diner, was demolished, which was the first phase of construction. Harry Georgiou, whose family owns the diner, said it will be much larger and more convenient for customers. “We wanted to provide more space for clients and a nicer atmosphere,” Georgiou said. “We wanted to modernize the restaurant. It was time to expand.” Plans for expansion have been in the works for five years. During that time, despite the recession, the diner’s business has remained steady, giving Georgiou confidence expansion was the right idea. Georgiou’s father, Frank, a Somers resi...

Housing Prices Continue Climbing | Mount Kisco Real Estate

The solid housing recovery is supporting further gains in home prices, according to the Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller report released Tuesday. Kathleen Madigan joins MoneyBeat with details. Home prices in 10 major U.S. cities increased 11.8% in the year ended in May, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index. Home values in 20 cities were up 12.2% on the year, compared to a 12.4% gain projected by economists. On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the 10-city index increased 2.5% in May from April, and the 20-city index increased 2.4%. Prices in Dallas and Denver surpassed their pre-financial crisis peaks set in June 2007 and August 2006, respectively. “This is the first time any city has made a new all-time high,” the report said. In addition, five cities—Atlanta, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle—posted monthly gains of more than 3% for the first time, said David M. Blitzer, chairman of the Index Committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices. B...

Update your marketing, or get left behind | Mt Kisco Realtor

You update your clothing and your technology, but have you updated your marketing? If you’re still using the same old outdated tactics from five, 10 or even 20 years ago, it’s time to freshen up those old approaches with a new look for 2013. With all the buzz about video, mobile and social media, it’s easy to get caught up in the never-ending chase for the latest shiny new object. On the other hand, it’s also just as easy to become complacent and to keep on doing what you have always done. The challenge is that if you constantly chase what’s new, you don’t develop consistent systems. On the other hand, if you don’t adapt regularly, you’ll be left behind by the agents who do. So how can a busy agent like you determine what needs a remake? Here are some useful tips. 1.  Real estate is, and always will be, a face-to-face business Does calling on owners of expired listings, for-sale-by-owners (FSBOs) and door knocking still work? Absolutely! These tried and true techniques t...

Mt Kisco Realtor | 5 Cheap and Easy Fixes Before You List Your Home

Image
Thinking of listing your home? Of course, you’ll want to get the best possible price. Before you call a major renovation squad for a TV-style home makeover, try these cheap and easy fixes to increase your home’s appeal. Declutter Start with the easiest fix of all. Pack up and hide or store some of your possessions. Stash your collections of porcelain dolls or “Star Wars” figurines; the less of your stuff potential buyers see, the more likely they will be to envision themselves — and their stuff — in the home. Add curb appeal Next, take a look at your home from the street. Could it benefit from a little landscaping? Clear away any dead plants, trim back limbs and bushes, and check out your local home improvement store’s garden section. Small flowering plants and other foliage is very affordable and easily adds instant charm. Deep clean The next easy fix is to clean. No, really clean. Pressure wash the driveway, and have your tile and carpets professionally cle...
