Frank Lloyd Wright was a young lad in his 20s when he opened his architectural practice in Chicago and received his first-ever private commission, turning the assignment into a grand home in River Forest, Ill. Today, more than a century after its 1890s completion, the William Winslow House has hit the market for $2.4M—just a bit pricey compared the starchitect's wide range of homes listed for sale right now. Originally tracked with hawk-like intensity by the folks over at Curbed Chicago, the 5,000-square-foot, four-bedroom home—which teased its return to the market in October—might not be the full realization of the full-blown Prairie style that would develop later in Wright's career, but the horizontality and symmetry certainly hint at an "emerging design philosophy," as the brokerbabble puts it. The super-early design also boasts lovely oak flooring, ornate moldings, four fireplaces, built-in seating in nearly every room, and—of course—a super-cool retro feel that, well, never really gets old. The exterior is clad with bronze and iron ornamentation and flanked by a stately gateway entry and carriage house apartment. This marks the first time the home has been on the market in a whopping 55 years, so by all means, soak in the history:
