With Peace and Good Food to All - Happy Holiday Season!
2-MamaroneckMktBanners-Dec2013 2
In the winter stillness...looking forward to 2014!
On a recent winter morning, walking gently on the fresh snow, we snapped this photo in front of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Mamaroneck. We were there to post the banners for our upcoming winter farmers market and found this image expressed more than the easy errand at hand: These beautiful, quiet days of winter are full of anticipation of the year to come. We hope you feel the same in the holiday season, as we all look together to 2014.

As for Mamaroneck's Winter Down to Earth Farmers Market, it just keeps getting bigger and better. Our vendor registrations are still coming in, and now in the 5th year of the market, we have more vendors lined-up than ever. For those of us who want to eat locally all year long, we'll find seasonal produce, pasture-raised meats and poultry, fresh fish, dairy products, amazing breads and baked goods, time-brined pickles, small batch artisanal products, locally-roasted nuts and coffees, and much more.

The same holds true in the New Year for Ossining's Winter Down to Earth Farmers Market. Founded in 1991, this market keeps building momentum. Now it's held year around, outdoors in the fresh air, in its longtime home at the corner of Spring and Main Streets. It's closed just for one week this Saturday, December 28th, and it will open for 2014 on January 4th at 9:00 am. As more and more vendors gather to sell their local foods all year long, they carry on the global tradition of outdoor markets throughout the year. We couldn't be happier than to offer this market in Ossining in every season. Starting in January, our local farmers and food makers will bring produce -- both stored root veggies and fresh greenhouse greens -- along with meats, fish, pickles, breads, sweetly baked items, local honey, apple cider...you name it. Now when the winter season rolls in, we don't have to give up our commitment to buy and eat locally. Yay!

From all of us at Down to Earth Markets, Happy Holidays. May 2014 be a year of peace and good food for all!
