Meet Our New Vendor in Mamaroneck, Zamir of Taiim Falafel Shack
Zamir_Headshot2_TaiimFalafelShack
In addition to his family and cooking, Zamir's other passion in life is soccer.
He keeps soccer on TV "all the time"
and roots for his favorite team since boyhood, the Reds of Liverpool.
Imagine: You’re in Israel, perhaps Tel Aviv or Haifa, dining at an outdoor café over looking the Mediterranean Sea. There’s a light, refreshing breeze. An abundant buffet of Middle Eastern cuisine fills the table: Hummus, Falafel, Babaghanouj, and more. Your consummate host, Zamir Iosepovici, comes over and asks, “How is your food?” Being that you speak Hebrew in this fantasy, you find the word that celebrates the splendor of this moment. In English, it means delicious. In Hebrew, it captures the spirit of savoring life through food: “Taiim”. Today Zamir and his team evoke this dream through the foods of Taiim Falafel Shack. Based in Hastings-on-Hudson, they have a cozy walk-in restaurant, a catering service, and now, a growing fan club at Down to Earth farmers markets.
Zamir grew up in Israel and immigrated to the United States as a boy in 1981. His family traveled from Brooklyn, to San Diego, and then back East where he eventually pursued a law degree at Emory University in Atlanta. He was dedicated to the legal profession for over 15 years. Then, around 2010, he started to crave a livelihood with deeper connections to people – and food. So he decided to open Taiim Falafel Shack and the rest is…taiim.
“We make Israeli soul food,” explains Zamir, “If you’re out with your friends, at a soccer match, at a family birthday party – this is the food that you’d enjoy anytime, anywhere in Israel.”
While the food of Taiim is inspired from far away, Zamir sources as many of his ingredients locally as he can. “We have our base of Israeli offerings, and from there, we like to experiment. We’re an open kitchen of creative people. We blend this base with the flavors of the season. In the summer, we add peaches to our tabouli. In the fall, we offer butternut squash and pumpkin hummus. We love to work with local farmers.”

He adds, "Our motto is: 'Keep Calm and Eat Falafel', which simply means 'relax and enjoy our Israeli soul food'. We take our food seriously, but not ourselves."
Find Taiim Falafel Shack at our indoor Mamaroneck Winter Farmers Market every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm!
