The 76-foot-tall Norway spruce from Shelton, Conn. was chopped down and will arrive Friday morning around 7 a.m. It will be the tree at Rockefeller Center throughout the holiday season.

The pride of Shelton, Conn. — a 76-foot Norway spruce chosen to grace Rockefeller Center for the holidays — got the ax Thursday.
Local lumberjacks brought down the 12 ton wonder and eased it — with the help of a giant crane — on to the back of a 115-foot flatbed truck for the 70 mile drive to New York City....
