Mortgage rates rise on higher home sales, job growth | Bedford Hills Real Estate

Improved reports on new home sales and job growth pushed up fixed mortgage rates this week.

The average rate on a 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage was 4.46 percent, compared with 4.29 percent last week, Freddie Mac said in its weekly survey. A year ago, the average rate was 3.34 percent.

The average rate on a 15-year, fixed-rate mortgage also rose this week, to 3.47 percent, from 3.30 percent last week and 2.67 percent a year ago.
