Chappaqua Crossing Discussion Slated For Wednesday Night | Chappaqua Real Estate

The New Castle Town Board will meet Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 7:45 p.m. to discuss the Chappaqua Crossing retail plan, Town Administrator Penny Paderewski confirmed.
The board will be discussing – and possibly voting on – the following:
  • The findings statement of the final draft supplemental environmental statement
  • A new retail zone in the town code, including “mapping” of where the retail will be in the proposal’s preliminary development concept plan
  • Master plan changes
Developer Summit/Greenfield’s plan for a 36,000- to 66,000-square-foot grocery store at the old Reader's Digest headquarters location has many residents up in arms over its potential impact on the town. Dozens of those residents came out to ask the board to hold off on any vote until after the Nov. 5 general election in an Oct. 8 town board work session.

However, the board insisted its voting timetable is solely dependent on its readiness to vote, and would not be impacted by looming political implications. Whether or not that date will be Oct. 16 or after Nov. 5 was unknown.

Town Attorney Clinton Smith said while it was possible the board could vote on all three items this week, it was unlikely. In fact, Summit/Greenfield is asking for the vote of the rezoning to be put on hold until it is ready to submit its preliminary development concept plan.
